Miss Universe Extraordinary England confident from Northwich talks about her two-year badgering bad dream.

"I never planned my life to be competing in beauty pageants." In actual fact Sandhu's pageant career was not started until she turned 17 when she was crowned the first title as Miss Chandigarh 2017 in her hometown city. "I went from representing my city, to representing Punjab state, then to representing India, my country, and now to representing the whole universe," she states. "I realized that I want to contribute to society. My mother, who is a gynaecologist has been doing this for a long time, while my father was lawyer, and the lawyer also had a role in serving the people and the state. I'm also aiming to work in the same way. I didn't know where to start." In addition, as Sandhu's pageantry career was successful, so did her passion for women's empowerment. It's a cause that she feels blessed to be able to represent on the world stage during the December Miss Universe pageant. "It's really very close to my heart, so I am excited to take that advocacy forward and to every country possible wherever I go, so that I talk about female empowerment and continue to learn from every individual I meet, learn from their experiences and to take them and spread them back to the world," she says. Although being named Miss Universe may not have always been her goal however, the event was more than anything she had ever imagined. "When host Steve Harvey said 'India' I let off my emotions. I was confused as I was wondering, 'What's transpired?' However, at simultaneously, I understood that I was content to be in front of an audience and being able to speak. It was the ultimate goal of mine to speak about something that I am a believer to be true," Sandhu says. "It was just so bizarre and yet when Steve told me to take your first stroll' something we had never had practiced at the time, it was when I realized 'this was real I was trying to manage my emotions. I was crying in joy." However, as memorable as the moment was for Sandhu but it wasn't the most memorable moment. It was the experiences she had to endure in the lead-up to the grand finale of the pageant that will stay with her. "I believe the most amazing aspect of contests like the Miss Universe pageant is that you're empowered by every of the people who surround you and being able to represent your country is an incredible thing. It was an honor for me to be a part of 1.4 billion of people" the contestant says. "I noticed a massive change in me since day one . I was amazed at how I made new acquaintances from various countries and gain insight from their culture as well as their strengths and skills. This is what I love about Miss Universe, that we have a celebration of sisterhood and each day we helped one another.
